Observer led us out of the marina at 7:30. We expected a shorter day than Monday, and the weather forecast was lovely – sunny, light winds, with a high of 84F.
Dawn breaks at Pebble Isle.
The river was dotted with fishermen, and we only met a few tows. Gradually, the river began to narrow, and the scenery changed – more hills and rock cliffs. So nice to have a quiet uneventful trip.
Observer heads upriver.
We rounded the Clifton Bend, and passed the last tow of the day just at the Clifton Marina entrance. We waited for Observer to get settled, and edged through the narrow opening into the marina to find…. a Looper convention! Besides Observer, Le Reve, Chemistry and Manatee were here and One Eye Dog and Imagine This expected later. Sonia had stacked us in! Although the marina is small, there was 6 to 6 ½ feet of water throughout.
It didn’t take long to arrange docktails at 5pm with Sonia’s cheeseburgers and a quiet night to follow.
