Florence AL to Joe Wheeler State Park, Mile 4008 to 4030, Day 207 – 214

October 14 – 20

We travelled with Observer from Florence to the Fall Looper Rendezvous at Joe Wheeler State Park. Immediately after leaving Florence, we entered the Wilson Lock. On the National Register of Historic Places, the Lock has a lift of about 95 feet; it’s the deepest lock we’ll transit on our entire Loop.

Everyone had lots of fun along with the meetings, vendor presentations, and Looper Crawls (boat tours).

During the week we attended a demonstration polo match (photo courtesy of Golden).

Observer leaves Joe Wheeler in the morning fog, bound for Chattanooga.
